Intensive practice retreat: If there is enough interest, Lama Sangye will guide an intensive Phowa retreat Dec 27, 2015 - Jan 9, 2016. There we will practice Phowa under supervision by Lama Sangye four times a day (for at least one hour per session) for a week - or until we get signs of success.
The information about the Phowa teachings in March 2015 below is kept here for archival reasons. For the current Ma Gyud teaching announcement click here.
These teachings mark the inofficial opening of a new Bön center in Austria, Yeshe Sal Ling. It is an opportunity for a peek-preview of the new center before its official inauguration by Yongdzin Tendzin Namdak Rinpoche in the second half of 2015 (date depending on the progress of renovations).
The Ma Gyud Phowa practice: The Ma Gyud has a particularly rich and detailled chapter on Phowa - the practice for the moment of death. Even if you are familiar with other Phowa instructions from the Bön tradition, such as Atri Phowa or Rainbow Tent Phowa, you will learn something new from the Ma Gyud. As in the previous years, Lama Sangye will go through the original Ma Gyud root text (Guru Nöntse's terma) with us and comment on it. He teaches in Tibetan and will be skillfully interpreted into English by Dr. Peter Alan Roberts.
Prerequisites: New students are welcome to join - having attended Lama Sangye's previous Ma Gyud teachings is helpful, but not a prerequisite. Absolute beginners should practice at least some Ngöndro before learnig Phowa.
Volunteer work: Our new Bön center will be in an unfinished state at the time of the Phowa teachings and in need of a lot of work. Volunteers who help paint the walls and do other work (cooking, cleaning, repairs, moving furniture, etc.) before and after the teachings (March 20-25 and April 2-9) will be gratefully received and do not have to pay for the teachings.
