The teachings will be in hybrid format, online (via Zoom) and (for a limited number of participants) in presence in Yeshe Sal Ling. In addition to receiving 4 hours of teachings per day, we will have two meditation sessions every day, in Yeshe Sal Ling and online via Zoom.
Lama Sangye will introduce the 360 deities of the Ma Gyud (or, actually, the selection of 360 deities that are usually visualized on the mandala, out of the infinitely many deities of the Ma Gyud) and the mandala of the Ma Gyud, and explain how to visualize the deities on the mandala.
We will also practice reciting the fundamental Ma Gyud practice for integrating with the enlightened mind of Lama, Yidam and Khandro : Gong Choe Nam Sum - the basic practice that a Ma Gyud practitioner should perform every day. Here, again, offerings to the 360 deities of the Ma Gyud are visualized, and Lama Sangye will make the connections from the deities mentioned in the recitation text to those depicted on the classical five thangkas of the Ma Gyud and explain who is who.
Lama Sangye will also refresh his instructions on the musical part of the recitation (how to play damaru and zhang during Soldeb) and the mudras accompanying the practices for Lama, Yidam, and Khandro.
To accommodate those who are partcipating online from time-zones far west/behind of Graz (e.g. Mexico) for whom the morning sessions are not practical, we might organize the course so that two different topics are covered in the morning and afternoon sessions. In that way those who follow only the afternoon sessions would nevertheless receive complete instructions on one of the two subtopics.
Translations into other languages (Spanish, German, Russian, Italian, Hungarian, ...) can probably be organized for the online sessions, if we know early enough that such translation channels are desired. Please send requests as early as possible to contact@yeshesalling.org (Petra).
Prerequisites: Lama Sangye Monlam's Ma Gyud teachings are suitable for beginners and new students as well as for advanced practitioners, including those who have already received Ma Gyüd teachings. As most of us have experienced, with profound texts such as the Ma Gyud, one understands the same teachings on a new level upon every encounter with them, and always learns something new. The teachings in 2024 are the fifth of a series of teachings that Lama Sangye began in 2018; but new students are welcome to join. Having attended Lama Sangye's Ma Gyud teachings of 2018, 2019, 2022, or 2023 is not a prerequisite.
